Dr. Pedro Jorge dos Santos Pinto Excellence Award
An annual award created by the Association in partnership with the Escola Secundária de Gondomar, where Pedro Jorge dos Santos Pinto studied before entering medical school.
The award
Each year, two finalists of the Science and Technology course will be awarded an Interrail trip, funded by the Association, to encourage academic merit and the discovery of the world. Each winner will receive an Interrail Global Pass and a travel grant, fostering cultural and educational experiences across borders.
Who can be recognised
Finalists of the Science and Technology course at the Escola Secundária de Gondomar who:
- are on the school’s Merit Roll;
- have represented the school in national or international competitions;
- go on to higher education.
Beyond academic results, the award recognises qualities such as dedication, intellectual curiosity, a capacity for learning, initiative, and the determination to overcome challenges.
Why this award
The award honours Pedro Jorge dos Santos Pinto (1968-2004), a radiologist and former student of the school, recognised for his record of academic excellence, scientific research and international training. It is a tribute to the memory of an exemplary former student and an encouragement to young people to commit to excellence, knowledge and active citizenship.
