ESG and Associação Cívica Dr. Pedro Pinto create Excellence Award
The creation of the Prémio de Excelência Dr. Pedro Jorge dos Santos Pinto, in partnership with the Escola Secundária de Gondomar, was reported in the September 2026 issue of VivaCidade, the Gondomar local newspaper, on the page of Agrupamento de Escolas n.º 1 de Gondomar.

The award honours Pedro Jorge Pinto (1968-2004), a radiologist and former ESG student, recognised for his record of academic excellence, scientific research and international training.
Each year, two finalists of the Science and Technology course will be awarded an Interrail trip, funded by the Association, to encourage academic merit and the discovery of the world. They must be on the Merit Roll, have represented the school in national or international competitions, and have entered higher education. Each winner will receive an Interrail Global Pass and a travel grant, fostering cultural and educational experiences across borders. This is a tribute to the memory of an exemplary former student and an encouragement to young people to commit to excellence, knowledge and active citizenship.
